Every name
for a cut.
One meaning.

The product knowledge under our tools. About a thousand meat products, each with one ID, its names in many languages and the attributes a spec can state. A small model we train ourselves reads the way traders really write.

Messy line in.
Clean spec out.

A price list, an offer, a note from a call. The rules read the product and every attribute they recognise, keep the seller’s own words beside each value, and decide: tag it, or ask a person.

Carcass reads the title the same way. Nothing for a person to do.

  • Tagged automatically

An exact name, nothing ambiguous, no words left over.

  • Needs a person

A near spelling, a word it could not place, two values that disagree, or a choice to make.

  • No match

It says what is missing: the animal, the bone, the standard. And offers the choices.

03 · Cutting standards

Standards disagree.
Honestly.

UNECE, the US IMPS series, AHDB in the UK, Austria’s AMA, the EU poultry rules. Each draws its lines a little differently. Every code is mapped to one MeatBorsa product with how far it matches, never a false “same”.

One product, fourteen codesEach code is a narrower presentation of the same belly.

Both are the psoas tenderloin. The USDA item removes the psoas minor and has its own tail and fat trim.

Words it will not guessSome names only mean something once the animal is known. They wait for it.

  • LagartoPork lagarto with a pig, beef eye round with cattle
  • Presaneeds the animal; “Presa ibérica” has it
  • Tomahawkbeef, pork or lamb: stays open until one is named
  • Cutting fatpork or beef, never guessed
  • Bonfilea Turkish name shared by animals

04 · The model

Rules first.
A second reader.
Then you.

The meaning is finite. The ways traders write never will be. So rules hold the meaning, and Carcass, a small model we train ourselves on every decision our traders confirm, reads the wording a second time.

  1. 1The rules read it

Names, spellings and attribute words from the ontology. Deterministic: the same line gets the same answer on the same release.

  2. Carcass reads it again

Which candidate is the product, or none. What each number is. What the title states about bone, rind, trim, packing.

  3. They agree

Tagged, with the seller’s words kept beside every value.

They don’t, or it is unclear

A person accepts, corrects or removes each reading. That decision becomes the next lesson.

05 · Under every tool

One ID, everywhere
a product is named.

The same product ID travels from the marketplace to the back office to the trader’s phone. So a sale in Bulgarian and an offer in Polish count as the same product.

How it stays rightWords nobody could read are counted for the ontology team. Every change goes through three recorded steps.

  1. DraftAn editor proposes a name, a product or a link, with its source.
  2. ReviewA reviewer approves or rejects it, with a reason.
  3. ReleaseA publisher checks the difference and publishes a new version. Old versions stay readable.
